Early Life and Love for Music

Haechan was born on June 6, 2000, in Anyang, South Korea. From a young age, he exhibited a natural affinity for music.

He learned to play piano and drums early on, and his passion for dance was equally evident. We can see how his childhood interests paved the way for his future in entertainment.

In 2013, he took a leap of faith by auditioning for SM Entertainment’s global auditions in Seoul. His talent caught the attention of one of Korea's top entertainment agencies, and by 2016, he became part of SM Rookies, the company’s pre-debut training team.

Joining NCT 127: A Life-Changing Moment

In April 2016, it was officially announced that Haechan would debut as a member of the new boy group, NCT 127. The group made its debut on July 7, 2016, with the release of their first mini-album, "NCT #127." We watched as this album marked the beginning of Haechan’s remarkable journey as an artist.

NCT 127 quickly rose to fame, both domestically and internationally. Their first full-length album, Regular-Irregular (2018), topped the World Albums chart in the United States. Haechan’s voice, rap skills, and production contributions have been instrumental in their success.

Expanding Horizons with NCT Dream and WayV

While excelling with NCT 127, Haechan didn’t stop there. He also joined NCT Dream in 2017 and debuted with the group through their mini-album We Young. Later, in 2019, he became a member of WayV, a sub-unit targeting the Chinese market. Each project has allowed us to witness Haechan’s versatility and dedication to his craft.

Solo Activities and Collaborations

Haechan’s talent extends beyond group activities. In 2018, he released his first solo track, Don’t Need Your Love, which received widespread acclaim. Additionally, he’s collaborated with other artists, showcasing his ability to adapt to various musical styles.

Haechan is known for his strong friendships with fellow NCT members, particularly Mark and Jeno. His lighthearted and playful personality makes him a fan favorite. Throughout his career, Haechan and NCT have received numerous accolades. Highlights include nominations for Best Male Group Dance Performance at the 2017 Mnet Asian Music Awards, the Best Dance Performance at the 2018 Melon Music Awards, and the Best Male Group Award at the 2019 Golden Disc Awards.
